How to know when it's time to change my Audi's oil?

I recently purchased an Audi, and I want to make sure I am taking proper care of it. How often should I change the oil and what signs should I look for to know it's time for an oil change?

As for signs that you need an oil change, look out for dark, dirty oil on your dipstick and decreased performance or efficiency.

I've found that it's best to change the oil every 5,000 miles to ensure maximum performance. And if you notice strange noises coming from the engine or black smoke coming from the exhaust, it's definitely time for an oil change.
