What's the difference between an electric and hybrid vehicle?

I'm interested in purchasing the Audi e-Tron, but I'm not sure if it's considered an electric or hybrid vehicle. Can someone explain the main differences between the two?

Electric vehicles run solely on electricity, while hybrid vehicles use a combination of electricity and gasoline.
