Why does my Audi 80's engine make a clicking noise when cold?

I recently noticed that my Audi 80's engine makes a clicking or tapping noise when it's cold, but the noise disappears once the engine warms up. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It's likely that your engine's hydraulic valve lifters are not fully pressurized when the engine is cold, causing the clicking noise. This is a common issue in older vehicles and can be fixed by replacing the lifters.

Another possibility could be that your engine's spark plugs are worn or improperly gapped. This can cause a clicking noise when starting the engine, but the noise should disappear once the engine is warmed up. Try replacing your spark plugs to see if it resolves the issue.
