Why is my Audi 80 engine revving randomly and how can I fix it?

I've noticed that the engine on my Audi 80 seems to rev up at random times, even when I'm not accelerating. This is very concerning and I want to know what might be causing this issue and how I can fix it.

This could be caused by a dirty or faulty mass airflow sensor. Try cleaning it with mass airflow sensor cleaner or replacing it altogether.

Check your spark plugs and wires, as they may be old and worn out. Replacing them could solve the problem.
