How do I connect my smartphone to the Audi A3's infotainment system?

I am having trouble connecting my smartphone to the infotainment system in my Audi A3. When I try to pair with Bluetooth or connect via USB, it keeps giving me an error message. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution? Thank you in advance!

To connect your smartphone to your Audi A3's infotainment system, make sure your Bluetooth is enabled on both devices and that your phone is discoverable.
