How do I fix the central locking system in my Audi 80?

My Audi 80's central locking system has been acting up and I'm not sure what the issue is. Sometimes it won't lock or unlock properly, and other times it won't respond at all. Any tips on how to troubleshoot and fix this issue would be greatly appreciated!
