How do I remove and replace the brake pads on an Audi A3?

I noticed that my Audi A3's brakes are starting to feel spongy and I think it's time to replace the brake pads. However, I'm not sure how to do it on my own. Can someone guide me through the process step by step?

First, make sure your car is on level ground and the engine is turned off before starting. Then, loosen the lug nuts on the wheels with the brake pads you need to replace. Next, remove the wheel and locate the brake caliper. Undo the bolts holding the caliper in place and carefully remove it. Now you can easily access the old brake pads and replace them with new ones. Make sure to also check and possibly replace the rotors if they are too worn down.

Before removing the old brake pads, use a C-clamp to compress the caliper piston and make room for the new ones. This will prevent any issues when trying to put the caliper back on. Also, don't forget to clean the caliper and brake rotor with brake cleaner before installing the new pads. This will ensure proper braking performance.

If you're not confident in replacing the brake pads on your own, it's always best to take your car to a certified mechanic. They have the proper tools and experience to do the job correctly. Plus, they can also check the rest of your brake system to make sure everything is in good condition.
