How do I replace the brake pads on a 1983 Audi 80?

I recently purchased a 1983 Audi 80 and noticed that the brake pads need to be replaced. I have never replaced brake pads before and am looking for a step-by-step guide on how to do it correctly.

Firstly, gather all the necessary tools such as a car jack, lug wrench, and a socket set. Then, loosen the lug nuts and use the jack to lift the car onto jack stands. Next, remove the tires and use the socket set to remove the brake caliper bolts. Finally, replace the old brake pads with the new ones and reassemble everything.

It's important to bleed the brake lines after replacing the brake pads to ensure proper brake performance. Simply remove the cap on the brake fluid reservoir, have someone press on the brake pedal multiple times, and then use a brake bleeder kit to release any air pockets in the lines.

When replacing the brake pads, make sure to thoroughly clean the brake rotors and apply a thin layer of brake pad lubricant to prevent any squeaking or grinding noises. Also, ensure the brake calipers are properly aligned before tightening the bolts to prevent uneven wear on the new pads.
