How do I replace the headlight bulb in my Audi 80?

I am having trouble accessing the headlight housing and don't want to damage anything. What is the correct procedure for replacing the headlight bulb in a 1994 Audi 80?

To replace the headlight bulb in your Audi 80, start by removing the plastic cover on the back of the headlight housing. Then, unclip the retaining wire and carefully remove the old bulb. Make sure not to touch the glass part of the new bulb when installing it. Finally, reassemble the headlight housing and test the new bulb.

Replacing the headlight bulb in a 1994 Audi 80 can seem daunting, but it's actually quite simple. Start by turning the headlights off and allowing them to cool down. Then, reach behind the headlights and locate the bulb housing. Twist it counterclockwise to remove it and replace the old bulb with a new one. Make sure to wear gloves to avoid getting any oils on the bulb.

I've replaced the headlight bulb in my Audi 80 several times and here's my tip: use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry off the plastic cover on the back of the headlight housing. Then, remove the retaining wire and old bulb. When installing the new bulb, make sure to line up the tabs on the bulb with the slots in the housing. It should click into place easily.
