How do I safely reset my Audi A8's MMI?

I accidentally changed some settings in my MMI on my Audi A8 and now I want to reset it to factory defaults. Is there a way to do this without causing any damage to my car?

Yes, you can reset your MMI without causing any harm to your Audi A8. Press and hold the MENU button on the MMI control panel for around 10 seconds until the screen goes blank and then release the button. The MMI should reset to factory settings. However, please keep in mind that any personal settings will also be reset.

You have two options for resetting your MMI. One is to use the MENU button method as described by Robert Peterson. The other option is to disconnect your car's battery for about 30 minutes and then reconnect it. This will also reset your MMI, but you will need to re-enter your radio code afterwards.

I've had to reset my MMI before and I found that disconnecting the battery worked better for me. But make sure you have your radio code handy before you do this. Another tip, if you have any aftermarket modifications on your car, such as a custom audio system, resetting the MMI might affect those as well.
