How does the anti-lock braking system of an Audi 80 work?

I recently purchased an Audi 80 and I can't figure out how the anti-lock braking system (ABS) actually works. Can someone explain the process in detail?

The ABS system uses sensors to detect when a wheel is about to lock up. It then reduces the brake pressure on that particular wheel, allowing it to rotate again and maintain traction with the road.

The ABS system of an Audi 80 is designed to prevent the wheels from locking up during sudden braking, allowing the driver to maintain steering control. When the brake pedal is depressed, the ABS system rapidly pulses the brakes on and off, preventing the wheels from fully locking up.
