How does the Audi A6's adaptive cruise control feature work?

I've heard that the Audi A6 has adaptive cruise control, but I'm not sure how it functions. Can someone explain to me how this feature works and how it differs from regular cruise control?

Adaptive cruise control allows the Audi A6 to maintain a set distance from the vehicle in front of you, automatically adjusting your speed to match the car ahead. It uses radar and sensors to continuously monitor the distance and will even come to a complete stop if needed. Regular cruise control only maintains a set speed and does not adjust to traffic.
