How to activate Apple CarPlay in an Audi A8?

I recently purchased an Audi A8, but I can't seem to figure out how to activate Apple CarPlay. Can someone walk me through the steps?

To activate Apple CarPlay, first make sure your iPhone is connected to your Audi A8 via the USB port. Then, go to the Smartphone Interface settings in your Audi's MMI and select Apple CarPlay. You may need to download the Audi Smartphone Interface app on your phone as well.
