My alternator has stopped working in my Audi 80 and I need to replace it. Can anyone provide step by step instructions on how to do it?
ReplyFirst, make sure you have the right tools and equipment for the job. Remove the negative terminal from the battery and then locate the alternator on the engine. Loosen the belt tensioner and remove the belt. Then disconnect the electrical connections and mounting bolts to remove the old alternator. Install the new alternator in reverse order.
When replacing the alternator, it's always a good idea to also replace the serpentine belt. It's a small additional cost but can save you the hassle and potential damage if the old belt breaks while driving.
