What causes engine knocking noise in Audi vehicles?

I've noticed a strange knocking noise coming from my Audi's engine. It seems to happen more when the engine is cold. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It's likely that the knocking noise is caused by faulty engine mounts. Over time, these mounts can wear out and become misaligned, causing the engine to shake and make noise.

Another possible cause could be low engine oil levels. When the oil is low, it can't properly lubricate the moving parts in the engine, causing metal-on-metal contact and resulting in a knocking noise.
