There are a few potential causes for an Audi 80's engine to overheat. It could be due to a malfunctioning thermostat, a leak in the cooling system, or low coolant levels. I would recommend checking all of these components and addressing any issues as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your engine.

One possibility could be a faulty water pump. If the water pump is not working properly, it can lead to a lack of coolant flow and in turn cause the engine to overheat. I would suggest having a mechanic check your water pump and replace it if necessary.

Another potential cause could be a clogged radiator. Over time, debris and sediment can build up in the radiator and block the flow of coolant. This can result in the engine overheating. I recommend flushing out your radiator regularly to prevent this from happening.
