What is the Blind Spot Information System in the Audi A1?

I recently bought an Audi A1 and noticed there is mention of a Blind Spot Information System. Can you explain what this feature does and how it works?

The Blind Spot Information System, also known as BLIS, is a safety feature in the Audi A1 that uses sensors to detect vehicles in your blind spots. When a vehicle is detected, a warning light will appear on your side mirrors to alert you.

I highly recommend using your side mirrors in conjunction with the BLIS feature to ensure you have a clear view of your surroundings. The BLIS is a great tool, but it's always best to double check visually as well.

If you turn on your turn signal while a vehicle is in your blind spot, the BLIS feature will emit an audible warning to further alert you. This can be especially helpful if you missed the warning light on your side mirror.
