What is the difference between Audi's Quattro and All-Wheel Drive systems?

I am looking to purchase an Audi vehicle, but I am confused about the difference between their Quattro and All-Wheel Drive systems. Can someone explain it to me in simple terms?

A

Audi's Quattro system is a permanent all-wheel drive system that distributes power to all four wheels at all times, while their All-Wheel Drive system is a more reactive system that only distributes power to the wheels that need it. Quattro is more suitable for rougher terrain or adverse weather conditions, while All-Wheel Drive is better for everyday driving.

Another difference is that Quattro utilizes a Torsen center differential, which evenly distributes power between the front and rear axles, while the All-Wheel Drive system uses an electronic torque vectoring system to distribute power based on traction needs.

For everyday driving, the All-Wheel Drive system is more than sufficient. However, if you plan on doing any off-roading or driving in harsh weather conditions, I highly recommend opting for the Quattro system.
