What is the reason for excessive oil consumption in an Audi 80?

I have recently noticed that my Audi 80 is consuming large amounts of oil, much more than it used to. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

The most common reason for excessive oil consumption in an Audi 80 is worn out piston rings or valve guides. This can be caused by high mileage or poor maintenance. You should have your engine inspected by a mechanic to determine the exact cause and make the necessary repairs.

Another potential cause for high oil consumption in an Audi 80 is a faulty PCV valve. This can allow excess oil to be sucked into the intake and burned in the engine. Check and replace the PCV valve if necessary to solve the issue.

It is also possible that you have a leak in your engine that is causing the excess oil consumption. Check for any visible leaks and have your engine seals and gaskets inspected by a mechanic. It is important to fix any leaks to prevent further engine damage.
