What is the recommended oil type for a 1992 Audi 80?

I recently acquired a 1992 Audi 80 and I want to make sure I'm using the right type of oil. What is the recommended oil type for this specific model and year?

According to the Audi 80 owner's manual, the recommended oil type is 5W-30 synthetic oil.

I've been using 5W-40 synthetic oil in my 1992 Audi 80 for over 10 years and haven't had any issues. It's slightly thicker than the recommended 5W-30 but still within the acceptable range.
