What might cause the Audi A2 to experience engine hesitation?

I've noticed my Audi A2 occasionally hesitates while accelerating, especially at low speeds. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It could be due to a dirty air filter, which reduces air intake and therefore affects engine performance. I suggest checking and replacing the air filter if necessary.
