What's the difference between Audi R8's Quattro and all-wheel drive?

I keep hearing about Audi's Quattro system and their all-wheel drive, but I'm not sure what the difference is. Can anyone explain?

Quattro is Audi's proprietary all-wheel drive system that provides enhanced traction and handling in varying road and weather conditions. It specifically uses a mechanical center differential to distribute power between the front and rear wheels, while traditional all-wheel drive systems use a computer-controlled clutch to distribute power. Both systems offer similar benefits, but Quattro is considered to be more responsive and efficient in handling different driving situations.

The biggest difference between Quattro and traditional all-wheel drive is their origins. Quattro was developed specifically for Audi vehicles and has been continuously refined and improved over the years. Traditional all-wheel drive systems are typically adapted from other automakers or shared between multiple brands, making them less tailored to the specific needs of a vehicle's handling and performance.

Quattro is typically found in higher-end Audi models, while all-wheel drive is more commonly used in lower-end models. This is because Quattro is more advanced and can handle higher power outputs and more demanding driving conditions. All-wheel drive, on the other hand, is more cost-effective and still offers many of the same benefits for everyday driving.
