Why does my Audi A2's engine hesitates when I accelerate and how can I fix it?

I recently purchased a used Audi A2 and I've noticed that whenever I press down on the accelerator, the car hesitates before accelerating. What could be causing this issue and is there a way to fix it?

This could be due to a clogged fuel filter, which can restrict the flow of fuel to the engine and cause hesitation. I would recommend getting the fuel filter checked and replaced if necessary.

Another possible cause could be a faulty throttle position sensor. This sensor tells the engine control unit how much gas to give to the engine, so if it's malfunctioning, it could be causing the hesitation you're experiencing. Have a mechanic run a diagnostic check to confirm and replace the sensor if needed.

It's also worth checking the spark plugs and spark plug wires. Worn or dirty plugs and wires can cause misfires which can lead to hesitation. If they're due for a replacement, this could solve your issue.
