Why does my Audi A3 make a whining noise when I accelerate?

I recently noticed a high-pitched whining noise coming from my Audi A3 when I accelerate at higher speeds. It seems to be louder when the engine is cold. Has anyone else experienced this issue and have any idea what could be causing it?

It could be a sign of a worn out or loose accessory belt. Have a mechanic inspect and potentially replace the belt if necessary.

The whining noise could also be from a failing alternator. I had a similar issue with my A3 and had to get the alternator replaced.

Check the power steering fluid level and make sure it's at the correct level. Low fluid can cause a whining noise in the steering system.
