Why does my Audi A3 make a whirring noise when I accelerate?

I recently noticed a faint whirring noise coming from my Audi A3 when I accelerate. It seems to be coming from the engine area. What could be causing this and how can I resolve it?

The most likely cause of the whirring noise is a problem with the bearings in the alternator or water pump. It's important to have it checked by a mechanic as soon as possible as ignoring it can cause further damage.

Another possible cause could be a worn out or loose belt in the engine. This can easily be fixed by replacing the belt. However, if the issue persists, it's best to have a professional look at it.
