Why does my Audi engine make a rattling noise when accelerating?

Every time I accelerate, I hear a rattling noise coming from my Audi's engine. It's not constant, but it happens frequently. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

The most likely cause of the rattling noise is a loose or worn out exhaust heat shield. This can happen over time as the car is driven and can be an easy fix by tightening or replacing the heat shield.
