Why does the Audi A8 have a limited top speed and how can it be increased?

I recently purchased an Audi A8 and noticed that its top speed is limited to 155mph. However, I've heard that some performance models can go much faster. Is there a way to remove this limit and increase the top speed on a standard A8?

The Audi A8's top speed is electronically limited to 155mph for safety reasons. However, there are aftermarket tuners who can remove this limit and increase the top speed to around 200mph.
