Why is my Audi A2 displaying the 'check engine' light?

I recently noticed that the 'check engine' light on my Audi A2 has turned on. I have checked the manual and it says to take it to a mechanic, but I was wondering if there are any common reasons for this light to come on? Is it something I can fix myself or do I need to take it in for servicing?

The 'check engine' light can come on for a variety of reasons, including a loose gas cap, faulty oxygen sensor, or a malfunctioning engine component. It's best to take your car to a mechanic to have it properly diagnosed and fixed.

I had this issue with my Audi A2 and it turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor. I would recommend taking it to a mechanic to get it fixed as soon as possible, as driving with a lit 'check engine' light can have a negative impact on your car's performance.
