Why is my Audi A8 engine making a loud clicking noise?

I recently purchased a used Audi A8 and noticed that the engine is making a loud clicking noise. It seems to be coming from the engine bay and is especially noticeable when the car is idling. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

The loud clicking noise could be a sign of a faulty valve or lifter in the engine. It's important to have it checked by a mechanic as soon as possible, as it could lead to further damage if left untreated.

It could also be caused by low oil levels or dirty oil, which can cause the valves to stick and make a clicking noise. Make sure to get your oil changed regularly and check your oil levels.
