Why is my Audi A3 making a grinding noise when I brake?

When I apply the brakes in my Audi A3, I hear a grinding noise coming from the front of the car. What could be causing this and what can I do to fix it?

The most likely cause of this grinding noise is worn brake pads. You should have them inspected and replaced if necessary as soon as possible.
