How to fix faulty brake lights in Audi A1?

My Audi A1's brake lights are not working properly, they either stay on all the time or do not light up at all. What could be the reason and how can I fix it?

The most common cause for faulty brake lights in the Audi A1 is a burnt out light bulb. Check the bulbs and replace if necessary.

If the bulbs seem to be fine, the issue could be with the brake light switch. It is a small sensor located near the brake pedal. Try replacing it to see if that resolves the problem.
