How to troubleshoot low idle RPM in Audi 80?

I recently noticed a decrease in the idle RPM of my Audi 80. What could be the possible causes and how can I fix it?

You may have a dirty or faulty idle air control valve. Try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner or replace it if needed.
