Why does the clutch of my Audi 80 stick when I try to shift gears?

I recently bought a used Audi 80 and noticed that the clutch occasionally sticks when I try to shift gears. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's definitely an annoyance. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
